NILE Equis Raffle Horse

NILE Raffle Filly Program

Each year the NILE sells tickets all year long for a chance to win a top-notch horse donated by an established ranch. These horses are some of the best in Montana and surrounding states. The public has the opportunity to win a horse for $5 and the donating ranch gets publicity for their breeding program. Tickets costs $5 for one or $25 for six. The drawing is during the NILE Gold Buckle Select Horse Sale, the last Saturday of the NILE Stock Show & Rodeo. Winners may take ownership of the horse or take the proceeds from selling the horse during the sale. Earnings from ticket sales go toward NILE youth programs.

The NILE is proud to introduce TWO EYED SMOOCH as the 2021 NILE Equis Raffle Filly!! Smooch has been donated by Burns Ranch Quarter Horses, owned by Ron & Donna Burns, of White Sulphur Springs, Montana.

“Smooch” is a 2019 beautiful bay filly raised by the Burns Ranch of White Sulphur Springs, Montana. The day she was born she was earmarked as a horse to promote Burns Ranch’s horses. Ron likes her as much today as he did when she hit the ground. Burns Ranch is proud to offer her to the NILE as the 2021 Raffle Filly. This cute filly is friendly, easy to catch and handle. She has a people pleasing personality and should mature to 15.1HH.She has a good slope on her shoulder and will be able to travel and collect herself to perform.

Burns Ranch considers themselves fortunate to own WATCH JOE JACK MOVE, “Joe Blue”, a gray son of World Champion JOE JACK RED from the Pitzer Ranch in Nebraska. Joe Jack Red’s colts were all good looking and popular and always sold at the top of their sales. JJR’s Special Awards include:2005 Superior Heading; 2004 Superior Heeling; 2004 High Point Halter; 2003 World Qualifier Heading and Heeling. His AQHA points include: Open …… 53 Heading; 58 Heeling; 1 Calf Roping. Amateur…… 9 Heading; 12 Heeling; 3 Halter. Due to extreme athleticism, speed, and the unique ability to control the run, several thousand AQHA points have been earned by rope horses thanks to Joe Jack Red on the help end.

“Joe Blue’s” dam, WATCH JAZZY MOVE, is a granddaughter of WATCH JOE JACK and a Two Eyed Jack mare, and includes JOE JACK HONEY BAR, another founding father of the Pitzer program. She has produced several top selling geldings, and stallion prospects; they keep most of the fillies.

Smooch’s dam is a good-looking Buckskin mare that is a granddaughter of TWO EYED RED BUCK and a Watch Joe Jack mare (more World Champions). Her bottom, bottom side is stocked full of solid Eastern Montana cowboy horses.

Click HERE to read "The Cowboy Kind", a wonderful feature, published by Tri-State Livestock News, in the 2020 NILE Premier Magazine about the Burns Ranch. Ron & Donna are fair, honest, and hard working folks of Montana. They raise cowboy horses, ones that can handle a full day's work with good conformation, disposition, and athleticism.
