Eligibility:
Horses eligible to compete in the NILE futurity must: be the proper age for the proper class (ex: born the prior year to enter the yearling class, etc.), have gone through a NILE Gold Buckle Select Horse Sale. OR, if the horse is an offspring of a NILE Nominated Stallion but ONLY in the 3, 4, 5-yr-old or barrel futurity classes.

Show Format:
Yearlings show in halter and round pen. Two-Year-Olds show in a trail class with reining elements, Three-Year-Olds show in reining and cow work, Four-Year-Olds show in in reining and cow work, Five-Year-Olds show in in reining and cow work, barrel horse run a barrel pattern.

Refunds:
Absolutely no refunds. Any owner not making all payments on time or not participating in the futurity events will forfeit all money paid in.

Sale Discount:
Any horse entered and showing in this futurity can be entered in the NILE Gold Buckle Select Horse Sale at a reduced consignment fee of $75. The horse must be entered on a regular consignment form, which must be received at the NILE office on or before the entry deadline of all sale consignments.

Purse Breakdown:
Based on the number of horses that compete the day of the show. ($10 office charge taken out each entry) Estimated $20,000 total futurity purse.

Breeder/Owner Purse Split:
The breeder of the horse will receive 15% of the winnings. The owner of record at futurity time will be paid the balance. Breeder is the person listed on the registration papers. Eligibility will remain with the horse regardless of changes in ownership in the interim.

Nominated Stallions:
Any foal sired by a nominated stallion would be eligible to enter the Three-Year-Old Futurity, Four-Year-Old Futurity, Five-Year-Old Futurity or Barrel Futurity, even if it did not go through a NILE Horse Sale. Separate entry form must be submitted with $250 nomination fee. Nominated stallions gets ΒΌ page ad in catalog, listing on NILE website, PA mentions during show, and NILE promotion. Stallion must be nominated each year. Eligibility will remain with the horse regardless of changes in ownership in the interim.

Rules
BARREL FUTURITY:
Ran in conjunction with Running the Rims Barrel Race, Tuesday, October 16. If entered in both, run once. Run in the futurity section, time carries over to Running the Rims time. 2D Format. Open to any 3, 4, or 5-year-old horse that was sold in through the NILE sales. Or is sired by a 2018 nominated stallion.

YEARLING FUTURITY:
Open to any 2017 foal sold through the NILE Gold Buckle Sale October 21, 2017. Horses will be shown at halter as a group, then shown individually free of lead line in a round pen. Horse must complete at least one circle at the walk, jog, and lope both directions. There is a 90 second time limit with a warning whistle at 45 seconds. Horse shall be marked down for excessive play in the round pen. Can be shown in the pen with or without a halter. Lunge whips are optional. Time starts when gate closes. Horses will be judged on movement, training/manners, and conformation. Lame or unsound horses will be severely penalized.

SNAFFLE BIT TWO-YEAR-OLD FUTURITY:
Open to any horse born in 2016 that has been sold through the 2016 or 2017 NILE Gold Buckle Select Horse Sale. Horses will be shown in a snaffle bit and ridden two-handed. Legal snaffle bit and head gear will be as outlined in the AQHA rule book. Lame or unsound horses will be severely penalized. The futurity will be shown in a trail class with reining elements. Horses will be shown in western stock saddle. Riders will show in western attire.

THREE-YEAR-OLD FUTURITY:
Open to any horse born in 2015 that has gone through the 2015, 2016, or 2017 NILE Gold Buckle Select Horse Sale, or any Three-Year-Old that is sired by a NILE nominated stallion. (See Stallion Nominations section for qualifications). Horses will be shown in a snaffle bit and ridden two-handed. Legal snaffle bit and head gear will be as outlined in the AQHA rule book. Lame or unsound horses will be severely penalized. The futurity will be shown in two separate parts: Horses will show first in a reining pattern (Pattern to be selected by NILE). Horses will then show working cattle. They will work individually boxing a cow at the end of the arena. Horses will be shown in western stock saddle. Riders will show in western attire.

FOUR-YEAR-OLD FUTURITY:
Open to any horse born in 2014 that has gone through the 2014, 2015, 2016, or 2017 NILE Gold Buckle Select Horse Sale, or any Four-Year-Old that is sired by a NILE nominated stallion. (See Stallion Nominations section for qualifications). Horses will be shown in a snaffle bit and ridden two-handed or bit of choice and ridden one-handed. Legal snaffle bit and head gear will be as outlined in the AQHA rule book. Lame or unsound horses will be severely penalized. Horses will be shown in western stock saddle. Riders will show in western attire. Horses in the in the Four-Year-Old futurity will show in two separate parts: Horses will show first in a reining pattern followed by working cattle, which includes roping. The reining pattern will be selected by NILE. Horses will work individually boxing a cow at the end of the arena, then taking the animal down the fence and making at least one turn each way on the fence. Next, the contestant shall rope and stop the animal, then return it to the catch pen. Two loop limit.

FIVE-YEAR-OLD FUTURITY:
Open to any horse born in 2013 that has gone through the 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, or 2017 NILE Gold Buckle Select Horse Sale, or any Five-Year-Old that is sired by a NILE nominated stallion. (See Stallion Nominations section for qualifications). Horses will be shown in a snaffle bit and ridden two-handed or bit of choice and ridden one-handed. Legal snaffle bit and head gear will be as outlined in the AQHA rule book. Lame or unsound horses will be severely penalized. Horses will be shown in western stock saddle. Riders will show in western attire. Horses in the Five-Year-Old futurity will show in two separate parts: Horses will show first in a reining pattern followed by working cattle, which includes roping. The reining pattern will be selected by NILE. Horses will work individually boxing a cow at the end of the arena, then taking the animal down the fence and making at least one turn each way on the fence. Next, the contestant shall rope and stop the animal, then return it to the catch pen. Two loop limit.

All futurity horses are given a stall. If you have special requests (ex: you want to next to someone) contact McCall as soon as possible, or make a note on the entry form. Hay, shavings, straw are available for purchase. You may bring your own.

Nominating a Stallion

Any foal sired by a nominated stallion would be eligible to enter the Three-Year-Old Futurity, Four-Year-Old Futurity, Five-Year-Old Futurity or Barrel Futurity.
Stallion must be nominated each year. Eligibility will remain with the horse regardless of changes in ownership in the interim.
Separate entry form must be submitted with $250 nomination fee.
