What is NILE?
The Northern International Livestock Exposition, more commonly known as NILE, is a non-profit association based in Billings. It was originally founded in 1967 by local ranchers and businessmen as a way to promote agriculture in the region. In the 40 years since, NILE has expanded into an umbrella organization with many activities and programs dedicated to promoting agriculture, livestock production and respect of Western tradition.

NILE is guided by a 20-member Board of Directors, elected from the membership, with an 9-member Executive Committee. Over a dozen committees provide the volunteer labor and leadership needed to produce NILE events and programs year-round. Our administrative office and staff are located in a building rented by NILE on MetraPark grounds.

Who can belong?
Membership in NILE is open to any individual or business.

How is NILE funded?
NILE is a non-profit organization financed by member dues, sponsorships and ticket sales. NILE considers its membership the lifeblood of the organization.

NILE Stock Show & Rodeo
NILE is best known for the annual NILE Stock Show and ProRodeo in October, featuring livestock shows and sales, a commercial trade show, an indoor rodeo, the Horse Extravaganza, entertainment and social events, and a variety of educational activities for youth and adults. The NILE is the only rodeo in Billings to be endorsed by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) and is the largest rodeo in Montana and the circuit, with over 400 contestant entries and a purse of over $100,000.

NILE Bull Riders Invitational
NILE has put Billings, Montana on the world-wide map of bull riding. In April, NILE hosts the annual NILE PBR Bull Riders Invitational, one of the 29 tour stops of the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Built Ford Tough Series presented by Las Vegas. Only the top 45 bull riders in the world are invited to compete at this three-day NILE event..

Livestock Sales
The NILE hosts two horse sales in the Fall, the popular NILE Ranch Performance Horse Sale and the Yearling/Weanling Horse Sale. The Public Auction Yards (PAYS) in Billings hosts feeder cattle and replacement heifer sales to benefit NILE in March and October. Six Montana breed associations have selected the NILE Stock Show as the site of their select breeding cattle sales.

Networking & Social Events
NILE is an ideal opportunity to meet others with an interest in livestock and rodeo. Hosted hospitality areas are available to members prior to major NILE events. In addition, NILE offers golf tournaments, membership parties, the Century Dinner fundraiser and the Annual Business Meeting.

Educational Programs
Educating the public about agriculture is one of our primary objectives, with programs specifically designed for youth. Each year through the Merit Heifer Program, NILE awards heifer calves to kids (ages 13 to 15) as a way to teach hands-on livestock production and to help the next generation get a start in the beef cattle business. NILE also provides cash scholarships to high school graduates for college. Youth events at the NILE Stock Show in October include the Jr. Fed Livestock Show and Sale of Champions, as well as the second largest livestock evaluation competition in the nation for FFA and 4/H members. Kids & Cowboys activities offer children with cancer and their families an opportunity to experience rodeo. NILE offers the REACH program, a national anti-drug/pro-rodeo presentation in local schools. The 4th Grade Ag Ed Program -- reaching over 1,400 kids annually in a three-day period -- is held on-site at the NILE, providing valuable facts about the importance of agriculture in today¹s changing world.
